Emma Namisi's Story

Emma (in the rust colored sweater) is pictured with other Peter’s Heart Secondary friends.

Joyce Kidulu, our mentor in M’Bale wrote us this beautiful story about Emma:

Emma's father, now deceased was a member of the armed forces. Emma now lives with his single mother who met his father in DRC. They stay in a rented house with three other siblings, in Bulambuli District, Eastern Uganda.

They are living in abject poverty, lacking almost everything. His mother is involved in petty business ventures like the selling of green vegetables. She is HIV positive, and confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior.

This background has had a great impact on Emma who equally lives in total lack.

Emma  Namisi-the Child

We are grateful that this vulnerable child who had no hope for the future and would have grown up as a social misfit got the opportunity to be supported by Peter's Heart. The support rendered to him provides for his education, medical bills and general welfare.

Fortunately, Emma is academically smart.  He attained a first grade score at his Primary Leaving Examinations meriting him to progress with his secondary education at a reputable school, Seroma Christian High School. This school is quite expensive; however, the unwavering support from Peter’s Heart has made it possible for Emma to attend such a school. It is a Christian school and there is hope that Emma will advance academically, socially and spiritually.

Emma’s dream is to be a pilot and we are working with the teachers who are encouraging him and putting emphasis on subjects that will lead to his dream.

As mentors, we see Emma as a focused child with potential to achieve his goal. We are persuaded to believe that by God’s grace coupled with the support he receives from Peter's Heart, the school's input, and our involvement as mentors, he shall emerge successful.

The absence of a father and being raised by a poor single mother has negatively affected him in his journey of growth. However, we have continued to give him the necessary complementary support so as to mould him into a responsible and God-fearing young man. We have purposed to consistently counsel him, parent, and Mentor and guide him as he grows. We also pray for him, we are confident that Emma is going to achieve his dreams, with God’s help. We definitely see a successful person in him.

Our earnest prayer is that the poor social environment around his home and absence of a father figure will not continue to negatively influence his future. We pray that God gives us the wisdom as mentors to tend to all his challenges, hold his hand and walk with him. We also pray that his adolescent stage will be managed successfully and that he will morph into a mature responsible Christian and content adult.

We appreciate Peter's Heart Ministry for the tremendous intervention into his life and we pray that God will continually provide and bless them.
