First Days at School Bring Smiles

The first weeks of school are exciting for the children in Peter’s Heart. Preparing for the first day in early February involved helping each student pack the long list of supplies they need at their school. In addition to a suitcase to carry everything, students need blankets, bed sheets, towels, mosquito nets, backpacks, textbooks, calculators, pens, pencils, crayons, markers, toothpaste, toothbrushes, toilet paper, soap, lotion, and other toiletries. New uniforms, socks, and shoes make it official and the learning begins!

A group of newly enrolled kids at Christ Care School spoke with us during a recent school visit about their experiences and the joy of having more than two meals each day. John, in the blue T-shirt, was overjoyed when he tasted spaghetti and macaroni, which is served once a week. He said he had never eaten such tasty food in his entire life.

The smiles on the children’s (and their mothers’) faces say it all!
