Rashidah Namuyingo
Rashidah is a beautiful young lady who has been with Peter’s Heart for over 8 years. She was abandoned by her mother at a village church because her mother was in an abusive relationship and could not care for Rashida. The leader of the church tried to care for Rashida, along with his many responsibilities but our staff member Church Seruwu realized that Rashida was really being neglected. Church Seruwu’s compassionate heart drew her to Rashidah and she entered the program of Peter’s Heart living with the Seruwu family.
Peter’s Heart enrolled Rashida in Christ Care Junior school but because of entering school as an older student and perhaps some learning disabilities, Rashida was not succeeding. During the Covid 19 lockdown when Peter’s Heart staff was homeschooling our children, it became apparent that Rashida would make more progress in a vocational type school.
Church and Geoffrey were able to find a tailoring shop where they could train Rashida in fashion and design of women’s clothes. PHU paid her tuitions, meals and transportation for 2 years, staying at Church and Geoffrey’s house in the evenings and weekends. We are so happy to say that Rashida graduated in August 2023 and is so thankful to all of Peter’s Heart for their support. For Graduation Peter’s Heart purchased a sewing machine for Rashida and she now has reunited with her mother and is looking for a room to rent to open a sewing business.
