Young Geoffrey's Story
Hello, my name is Galiwango Geoffrey, but our Peter’s Heart team calls me Young Geoffrey to distinguish me from Geoffrey Seruwu, our CEO.
My parents both died in the early 1990s and I grew up with relatives on my mother’s side of the family. Because of these circumstances I struggled to finish my schooling of Primary levels, O Levels and A Levels. My goal was to become a professional teacher but I could not complete the schooling since I did not have the needed tuition.
In March of 2008, I responded to God’s call for salvation and went to a church where the Pastor led me in a prayer to repent of my sins and confess Jesus as Lord of my life. Since that time, God has used my original desire to become a teacher by serving the young children in this church.
I am married to Fridah and we have 3 sons, Buleze Samuel Trevor (15), Mutebi Trinity (10) and Mugaga Trust (6).
In September of 2019, I began volunteering for Peter’s Heart alongside Geoffrey S. We distributed food, visited the children in their schools and then when schools closed because of Covid, I helped with the training of the children in gardening and discipleship. We also helped some of the children connect with their fathers who had not been in their lives for many years.
In April of 2022, after a visit from the American team, Peter’s Heart found office space and added 25 more children. At this time I was officially given a contract to work for Peter’s Heart where I serve as a mentor.
In teams of 2 we go into the slums and keep in touch with our PH children. We visit the children in their schools, communicate with the teachers on their progress, keep in touch with the guardians and make sure the environment at home is safe for the children. Thank you so much Peter’s Heart Uganda and Peter’s Heart USA for giving me this opportunity with you and the vulnerable families and children here in Uganda.
