US Teams visit Uganda
In the month of April , 2 teams of Americans visited Peter’s Heart Uganda and were welcomed warmly by our Ugandan friends. They had an opportunity to meet Peter’s Heart new CEO, Amos Mujuni, visit schools to see some of our original students and even take about 40 of the new younger students to the zoo where the animals were enjoyed but nothing compared to the fun they had in the shallow splash pool.
Peter’s Heart’s office is becoming a great gathering space. One day the younger Peter’s Heart children from the local slum spent a day at the office with our teenagers painting the mural on the office walls, playing Twister, playing Uno, enjoying the new soccer balls and having a great meal prepared by the cook, Annette. On Sunday, the visitors enjoyed worshipping with the Ugandan Christians and sharing greetings from supporters in the US. Josh Modrzynski and James Anderson traveled to M’bale with Amos and Geoffrey, where Pastor Josh was able to share God’s love to over 1000 students. Keith Hill stayed in Kampala and connected with the mentors and other team members.
When the folks from Westport, Connecticut arrived at the airport, the Peter’s Heart Team members had taken five PH sponsored older students with them to the airport to surprise the USA team. There were tears at the greetings because friendships have been built between the younger Americans and Ugandans in their three prior trips. Abby, Sophie, and Penny, Anthony and Corrie got a special welcome. This group had brought 5 suitcases full of donated items from the CT community and it was wonderful to be able to give 40 children bathing suits so they could enjoy the pool! It is impossible to describe all that took place in these 2 weeks but friendships were strengthened and hearts were touched. Vision was cast to seek out more children in the near future that could use Peter’s Heart’s help to get food, education and learn their value as a child loved by God.
